You can buy flatbread or make your own. Our family loves this easy flatbread recipe, so we usually have a few already made in the freezer.
How to make flatbread pizza
Our family loves Margherita pizza, so everyone is happy with this quick and simple flatbread with tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil. You will start with your favorite flatbread, then brush on some olive oil. We leave the pizza sauce off for this flatbread, but if you’d like to add some, use store-bought or the sauce I use when making this cheesy Margherita pizza.
Next, layer slices of fresh tomato, mozzarella, and basil — watch me do this in the video. And finally, season the top with oregano, salt, and pepper.
Our flatbread pizzas bake in the oven for about 10 minutes. Since the flatbread goes into the oven precooked, this recipe is FAST. You’ll know they are ready when the cheese is bubbly and starting to speckle with golden brown spots.
Homemade flatbread recipes
If you’d like to make flatbread for these pizzas, here are two of my favorite recipes: our no-yeast flatbread and this yeasted garlic flatbread. Both recipes are excellent when used as a base for pizza. In our photos and video, we have used the no-yeast flatbread.
I prefer to start with precooked flatbread when making flatbread pizza, so consider making a batch of flatbread and saving a few in the freezer for the next time you need a quick and easy dinner. Both flatbread recipes I mentioned will last in the freezer for a month. If you want traditional pizza, use our easy pizza dough.
